With the Alpine IV as base, Shelby equipped the Tiger with a 260 ci (4.2 litre) Ford V8 engine, a «Panhard» rod to enhance the rear axle, stiffer front springs to cope with the weight of the V8 engine and a more modern rack and pinion steering mechanism.
